University of Brescia Award
We are delighted to share a particularly important moment in our corporate life.
The President of Cittadini S.p.A., Pia Cittadini, was awarded the prestigious University of Brescia Award during the Opening Ceremony of the 2025/26 Academic Year of the University of Brescia, in the Innovation and Technological Development category, “for having demonstrated excellence throughout her professional experience and having made a significant contribution to the development of the territory in the disciplinary areas relevant to the University of Brescia.”
Having joined the company in 1969 upon her marriage, Pia Cittadini immediately worked alongside her husband Giovanni, a brilliant and visionary entrepreneur from whom she inherited the passion for “doing business,” bringing attention and sensitivity to people, particularly women, whose economic and social roles she has consistently enhanced.
After the premature passing of her husband in 2013, she took over the management of the company, constantly pursuing the goal of creating social value aimed at long-lasting development and fair, inclusive growth. A strategic lever has been technological innovation in both processes and products, thanks to ongoing collaboration with Italian and foreign universities for the development of ESG projects of great environmental significance for the region and numerous social innovation initiatives.
Likewise, Cittadini has supported scientific research by young doctors from Brescia through annual scholarships focused on rare diseases, particularly systemic sclerosis.
Throughout this journey, her ethical and value-based model has been the “network philosophy” (“each knot is a point of strength and all links grow stronger when working together”), founded on the centrality of the person, the sharing of goals, synergy and solidarity as instruments of collective good.
This University of Brescia Award therefore recognizes and celebrates the life of Pia Cittadini, dedicated to her family and the company, with the intention of passing on, together with her husband and children, the historical craft of net manufacturing—technologically renewed and grounded in respect for people and CSR ethical values—so that it may be delivered into a sustainable future, thanks also to projects shared with universities for the wellbeing of the community and the protection of the territory.
Deeply grateful to the Rector and the Academic Senate of the University of Brescia for this flattering recognition, Pia Cittadini wishes to dedicate it to her husband Giovanni, for the love and trust he placed in her; to her parents, who supported her dream of graduating; to her children Cesare, Marco, Paola and Lorenzo, who proudly took up the legacy of the company’s development; to her grandchildren, who are the future of the family; to her colleagues, who contributed to reaching this prestigious milestone; and to all the people who have been part of her life.
